Hey guys!
Just wanted to share something really fun that me and Ashley decided to do while scrapbooking Friday night!
Do you guys ever feel like you get stuck in the same scrapbooking rut? What I mean is everyone has a scrapbooking style....but at times do you feel like all your layouts are beginning to look the same? Do you look at other people's work and thing I could never do that. Well, here is what me and Ashley decided to do last night while scrapbooking in her creative little studio...
We were talking and I had completed my first layout and I was saying that I feel like all my work is starting to look the same..."I'm always layering paper....I need to try something new!" So, we issued ourselves scrapbooking challenges for the next layout we worked on.
I'm sure you see and read about challenges in various scrapbook magazines, blogs, websites, etc...well so do we and it always inspires us, but we rarely do it! So, we finally did it and we are now officially obsessed...
It really doesn't matter what you are working on....you can always incorporate a scrapbook challenge into your work...for example, Ashley was working on a layout about her finance' Shane and it was 8 1/2 x 11 in size and I was working on a layout of my little boy 12x12 in size. Very different, but yet we were both able to take the challenge and create our own masterpiece! What I loved the most about challenging myself is that I scrapbooked faster, wasn't all over the place trying to decide what paper to use, what embellishments to use, what title would I do, you know all the things that cause you to take hours on one layout...I had a direction and that helped some much!!
So....Challenge # 1
1. Your layout or project must have the color teal (or a color version similar to teal) in it
2. Use the word simple, simplicity, or simply in your title
3. No layering with paper!! Use embellishments to decorate your page and add dimension...but no multiple layers of patterned paper or cardstock!
Here is what me and Ashley came up....
Here is my Layout called "Your Simply..."
Here is Ashley's Layout called "Simply You"
Challenge # 2
1. Divide your layout into equal parts (meaning if you use 3 strips of paper....they all need to be equal in size)
2. Use orange or red color in your layout
3. The title must have the word "age" in it...
Here is my layout called "Only at this age"
Here is Ashley's layout called "Age one is fabulous"
So, here is your challenge....try these challenges and send me a picture of what you did and I will share it with all my blog readers! I will also have a special goodie bag for all those who send me pictures with these challenges! Email me at scrapaliciousstore@yahoo.com
Can't wait to see your work! On to more challenges tonight....me and Ashley will post the next challenges once they are complete!
Also, need some inspiration on where to find challenges....well Ashley has this great book called "The scrapbooker's Creativity kit By: Claudine Hellmuth". It is awesome and definitely one of the best books out there for challenges!
Also, here is another layout that I completed last night....I didn't do a challange for this one...just a basic layout using all the new Sassafrass!!
Also....National Scrapbook Day is May 1st? What are your plans...well we are planning lots of great things at the store for the weekend of April 31st, May 1st, and May 2nd!
